Founded in 2022, Bytes and Bits LLC is a solo-founded educational organization dedicated to empowering K-12 schools—especially those in rural and underserved communities—with high-impact resources and workshops in digital literacy and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) education. Our mission is to close the technology gap, improve digital engagement, and inspire the next generation of innovators by making computer science and technology accessible, engaging, and relevant for all students.

Our Story and Purpose
Bytes and Bits LLC was created by Tasha Penwell, an educator who grew up in rural Southeastern Ohio and personally experienced the limitations of early computer education. This background drives our commitment to address disparities in access, use, and design of technology in schools. We understand that many young learners face barriers—both real and perceived—when it comes to computer science, often viewing it as “too hard” or “too boring.” Our programs are designed to break down these barriers and foster positive attitudes toward STEAM learning.
